RESEARCH TOPICS: Plant Taxonomy. Morphological analysis and recognition of native and exotic species.
Distribution and reproductive biology of endemic species from Liguria and Western Alps. Analysis of ecological niches. Specific ongoing topics:
- Phylogeography and population genetics of several endemic and subendemic species of the Western Alps.
- Taxonomy: Molecular and morphological-based investigations on Iberis genus.
- Definition of pollination and dispersal systems of Campanula sabatia, Acis nicaeensis and Gentiana ligustica.
- Definition of ecological niche, characterizing the occurrence of species at their distributional points.
- Study and conservation of plant diversity with genetic applications and analysis of possible changes in distibution.
- Drafting of action plans for the conservation of endemic threatened species.
