The Department hosts the Secretariat of the Italian Society of Marine Biology (S.I.B.M.).
The SIBM, founded in 1969 in Livorno, is a scientific association, not for profit, which aims to promote studies relating to the life of the sea, to promote contacts between researchers, to disseminate all theoretical knowledge and practices resulting from modern advances.
