The Ianua School (https://ianua.unige.it) organizes highly qualified training courses, complementary to the University of Genoa's degree programs, in collaboration and with the contribution of institutions, organizations and companies, to enhance personal skills, scientific and cultural enrichment as well as professional growth of students 
The Department of Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences (DiSTAV) participates in the Sustainability Science and Technology (STS) course together with:
Department of Architecture and Design (DAD)
Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI)
Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA)
Department of Mechanical, Energetics, Management and Transportation Engineering (DIME)
Department of Naval, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (DITEN)

Organization

IANUA's courses are divided into First Level and Master Level, in which educational training modules are offered. The activities are normally structured in three four-hour lectures for a total of 12 lecture hours per module. Additional in-depth and comparative activities as well as educational visits are planned.

The First Level pathway accompanies Bachelor's degree students.  

The Master's Level pathway is dedicated to Master's Degree students.  

You can choose to attend only the First Level or the Master Level, and you will receive the Ianua School Diploma. If you decide to attend both, upon completion you will have the opportunity to earn a Master's Level II degree in parallel with your course of study.

First Level

The first year of the First Level is divided into 4 teaching modules of 12 hours each, equal to 2 CFUs, for a total of 48 total teaching hours:

2 core teachings (https://ianua.unige.it/indirizzo-sts), common to all five IANUA  pathways (https://ianua.unige.it/indirizzi-IANUA), 

2 characterizing teachings (specific to STS).

After passing the final examination of each module, 8 CFUs are acquired.

Organization of modules:

November to December 2023 - one characterizing teaching (Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning)
February 2024 (winter school) - one core teaching
March to May 2024 - one characterizing teaching (Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning) 
July 2024 (summer school) - one core teaching

Each of the following years of the First Level are divided into 6 teaching modules (3 core and 3 characterizing teachings), amounting to 72 total teaching hours/year. After passing the examinations for each module, 12 CFUs/year are acquired.

Organization of modules:

November to December 2023 - one characterizing teaching (Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning)
February 2024 (winter school) - one core teaching
March to May 2024 - two characterizing teaching (Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning) 
July 2024 (summer school) - two core teachings

Attendance is compulsory and 20% absence from scheduled hours is allowed. Compatible with future epidemiological scenarios, lectures will be delivered in presence.

Master's level

It is divided into 6 teaching modules (https://ianua.unige.it/indirizzo-sts) (3 core teachings, common to all five IANUA pathways (https://ianua.unige.it/indirizzi-IANUA), and 3 characterizing teachings), amounting to 72 total lecture hours/year. After passing the examinations for each module, 12 CFUs/year are acquired.

February 2024 (winter school) - one core teaching
March to May 2024 - two characterizing teaching (Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning)

Registration must be completed using the on-line procedure available at 
https://servizionline.unige.it/studenti/ianua/domanda by 15:00 on 5 September 2023.

The selection (for qualifications and aptitude tests) for the next academic year will be held in September.
The written test will be held on Thursday 7 September 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the University of Genoa - Polytechnic School Via Opera Pia 15A - Atrium Pavilion B.
Those admitted to the oral test will be called for Friday 15 or Monday 18 September 2023.
