RESEARCH TOPICS:
-Toxicity and carcinogenicity of Mineral fibres on advanced in vitro Models
-Extraction, characterization and evaluation of bioactive compounds from natural sources (plants, fungi, marine organisms)
-Purification and characterization of marine  biopolymers 
-Study of the mechanisms of biomineralization in Porifera
-Cell cultures of marine invertebrates

-Cell culture lab full equipment (laminar hoods, incubators, optical inverted microscope, fridge, freezer, microplate reader)
-Biochemical analyses lab full equipment (centrifuge, protein gel electrophoresis apparatus, 2-D electrophoresis apparatus, wester blotting system, spectrophotometer, chemical and biohazard hoods, pHmeter, microwave heater, centrifugal concentrator, deionized water production, precision balances)  
-Molecular analyses lab full equipment (qPCR, thermal cycler, DNA and RNA gel electrophoresis, tissue lyser, UV image analyser)
-Invertebrate lab aquarium and stereomicroscope
-MOGM culture and manipulation lab (laminar hood, icubators, sonicator, thermal block, stove, autoclave)

TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
Numerous Bachelor and Master degree lab experimental theses for students on the University of Genova (Biology and Biotechnology) on topics related to the research activities of the lab
