Sedimentology and Marine geology Laboratory

LOCATION: Palazzo delle Scienze , floor -1, Room F.25, F.26, F.27 

RESEARCH TOPICS/BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Sedimentology and Marine Geology Laboratory at DiSTAV is structured in two lines of activity: Laboratory analysis and field activity. The laboratory analysis’ aim is
to define the physical characteristics of sediments (color, water content, specific weight, volumetric weight, ecc.) the field activity provide bathymetric and sismostratigraphic surveys, morpho-topographical surveys of the beach, sampling of seabed sediments using a gab and/or corer sample.

LABORATORY EQUIPMENT:  GIULIANI IG/1 sieving machine for vibrating sieve, batteries of ½ phi class sieves, Sedimentation tank, SEDIGRAPH 5100 sedigraph by MicroMeritics, MultiBeam PicoMB-130-Surf, Singlebeam, Van Veen Bucket.

ATEACHING ACTIVITIES: laboratory exercises and internships.
