MISSION

Raman spectroscopy is an analytical technique based on the inelastic diffusion of monochromatic electromagnetic radiation (laser) by the atomic vibrations of the analyzed material. It is a non-destructive technique widely used in the study of materials, both in the solid, liquid or gaseous state. It has applications and developments in the following fields:

  • mineralogy, petrology, gemology for the characterization of minerals in environmental or high temperature conditions, fluids and rocks of various nature and origin
  • cultural heritage (analysis of ancient artifacts and pigments)
  • physics and chemistry (characterization of synthetic materials and their technological properties)
  • public health and environmental studies (characterization of fibers and eco-toxic compounds, research and characterization of micro-plastics)
  • analysis of plant tissues
